They changed it now it sucks.

Uh, am I a bad LJer if I don't actually mind the new layout? I never used subject headings in comments anyway.

I don't mind the new layout so much. I do mind when they remove functioning bits.

My thingie seems to still work

No, not that thingie! My, whaddyacallit, default layout or whatever. As (I presume) you can see, I can still leave a comment with a subject-line. I wish others would do the same on my journal, but I've pretty much given up on nagging.

I can't, actually. Your subject shows in the body of your post.

Ah, I see

I stopped reading in my own style and found the change. Don't like, but since it still shows, don't really mind either. Since I do read everything in my own journal's style it doesn't seem to affect me personally.

For the moment at least (it's 3:24 AM as I type this) "I'm all right, Jack!" is the phrase of the day. (And yes, probably suggested by your user-name.)

I don't really mind it either.

I'm also overly aware of people's tendencies to get all upset over change. It belittles the times it being upset is warranted like all the Gawker/io9 sites and DEAR GOD FACEBOOK

I saw someone complaining about youtube and I was like SHUT UP AND TELL THEM TO FIX io9 ALREADY!

io9 makes me yell.

But, yeah. I don't really have a problem with this change.

i wouldn't mind it that much either except that my icon keywords are VERY INTENTIONALLY ordered by keyword sort and equally intentionally kept to a small number even when I used to have room for more, specifically so that (a) I can find them all and (b) I won't have to scroll to do so

now I can't find any of my fucking icons and I have to scroll to get to the ones I actually use

for an RPer this is sufficient reason to move to another fucking service

subject?

I don't really care about subject headings, but I'm annoyed about them taking away the preview button (I always preview my comments first!) And the icon list is no longer listed in the right order with my keywords so I can quickly find one. It's all just completely jumbled up ranfdomly, and you have to wait for the icons to all load as well. Not good if you have 200+ icons

It works for S2 styles still, for a non-specified amount of time to come.

The new icon selection system sucks, however, and heavily. I have to scroll through and click on a picture, instead of just typing the icon name? Or click twice to bring up a text box? Usability, do they speak it?

I'm confused?

I'm confused? Does it not show it when I post it? I have a subject line showing in my comments.

Either it's cuz I'm on S2 or maybe they reverted, but yeah.
I rarely used subject line in comments - at first I thought you meant it was subject line in general which I thought was *really* stupid.

Why are they failing so hard lately? :\

I don't like this blue as much, but other than that, I can't really complain.

From: [identity profile] misslynx.livejournal.com
Yeah, I have to admit that the colour is the thing that bothers me the most, odd as it might seem.

I never used comment preview, since it didn't really work very well anyway (didn't render any HTML in the comment, which would be the major point of previewing - if I'm just looking for typos, I can do that before I hit submit), and rarely used subject lines for comments. They also seem to have gotten rid of the rich text editor, which again, I never used, but I imagine people who don't know HTML well enough to write it in their sleep might object.

But the colour - ARGH NO! I may be just a little OCD about colour, but it clashes violently with the blue of the sidebar. The blue in the new comment interface is decidedly greenish and the one in the sidebar is just slightly purplish, and together they clash badly enough that I feel like my eyes are going to start bleeding or something. I want to beat the designer with a Pantone book or something.

But I do seem to vaguely recall that there are other styles available for the journal entry pages, so I may yet be able to get away from the Clash Of The Blues. And most of the rest of the changes don't bother me all that much.

Huh, I haven't had anything to complain about because I actually hadn't seen it in use yet. Guess most of my friends use out of date s2 styles, or something. So using it here in this comment is the first time I've come across it.

Can't say that the comment subject thing bothers me all that much, but wow, the icon thing is actually far less intuitive (for me) than it was before.

I get the feeling that they're re-orienting to the Russian language market 9and have for years). There are not many English speaking newbies around anymore. And that spells trouble.

the subject lines, "thread", and "parent" links were hugely important to reading long threads in communities and that the change removed them is tremendous fail imo

The only way you can read long threads now is much, much slower.

Well, it's not exactly just comment subject lines that went.

If you have more than 10 icons, choosing an icon for a comment is a major pain. If you have less than 10, it's still more inconvenient, requiring at least one trip with the mouse to do what I could do from my keyboard seamlessly right before typing the comment before. That's a major usability issue, since it adds up.

If you're using anything other than a web browser on a fast connection (e.g. the mobile interface) I understand the effect of the new icon selection system ranges from "molasses" to "won't load" to "oops, crashed my phone," from the comment thread on [livejournal.com profile] lj_releases. Major usability issue.

Even if you are using a web browser on a (relatively) fast connection, moderate-sized comment threads (say, 50 comments) take noticeably longer to load; the comments I post take noticeably longer to show up. If I click on "post a new comment" at the end of the page it throws me right back up to the top of the comments, which has to be an outright bug. Usability and interface issues.

Even though I am not any such communities currently, auction communities and charity communities either cannot function or have drastically reduced functionality without comment subject lines. I understand that in fanfiction and roleplaying communities with huge, sometimes anonymous amounts of participation, they need subject lines for organization, and absolutely need them for trigger warnings. Major usability issues.

I'm not typically a "they changed it now it sucks" person, but this one wasn't "they changed it now it sucks." Or rather, it was. Very literally.

Add to that where this was technically beta-tested, the beta-testers almost all complained, and got brushed aside by the very, very unprofessional-sounding developer... sorry, don't want to go dig out all the links about this from the 7800+ comment thread at the lj_releases entry... Well, then.
