There have, of course, been the predicable outcries from freaky monarchist old folks who live in B&Bs or old people's homes by the sea in bleak little seaside towns or whatnot.

I am ashamed I did not go. I would have gone if I had friends to go with. I almost popped out to join them when I saw the news last night, but by that time it was ending. Sigh.
