I'm sometimes mistaken for a Luddite (which I am obviously not) because I frequently rant about shoddy technology that has not been adequately tested before being put on the shelves. I prefer durable goods to actually be durable. I often suspect that accelerated obsolescence masks a lot of planned obsolescence, because while I know that smart people can be stupid, surely they can't be that stupid.
