Yeah. I'm mostly aware of how GamerGate and Sad Puppies were used as test cases for a broader fascist movement but I don't doubt there were other laboratories.

One thing that everyone who studies the culture wars comments on is just how much easier it is to get engagement on it versus the more tangible issues that affect us. Which, of course, is a good part of the strategy as well.
