Six months ago (April 20, 2005), I was babbling about how Heather Mac Donald was hilarious. There were also mentions of wombats and vultures.

Nine months ago (January 20, 2005), I was into peak oil before it was cool to be into peak oil.

One year ago (October 19 and 21, 2004), I discovered the reality-based community and was overjoyed that my phone wasn't working and tried to kick-start a Dr. Hunter S. Thompson for President campaign.

Two years ago (October 20, 2003), I was in the midst of a break-up with my partner of four years and dealing with The Cancer, Round One.

I recently lost a very good LJ friend because we got into an argument over gender and perceptions of the media. It was one of those arguments that just got way out of hand, where we couldn't stop going at each other!

Here's the kicker: I was arguing the pro-feminsit side of the issue and she was on the other side. Aren't I supposed to be the sexist one? (Damn girls!)

My friend is the one who is very obviously not breaking any laws or violating his bail conditions.

This seems to be a very rational and intelligent debate (not even an argument!) but I've seen that happen. There's a lot of internalized sexism and a lot of anti-feminist women.

I took a look at the post. I didn't think it was an argument at all. I just have had experiences where the gender issue can stir up some strong emotions.

Oh! To see an actual discussion on Livejournal! Maybe I'll put in my two cents. (If your friend don't mind!)
