I didn't realize I was bi until my late 20s/early 30s, so I didn't really have a queer youth as such, but most of my friends were, and none of them were surprised when I started dating another woman. I still very much liked queer narratives, and nerd narratives (even though I didn't start playing D&D until my late 20s/early 30s either!) and I was a lot less critical of some of the slut-shaming elements of this.
