I got right off that it had to do with historical doomed wintry expeditions, though I haven't read or seen *the terror*.
No knowledge of
The Terror
is necessary for that poem! I am glad you enjoyed it!
(For ground zero of contemporary pop culture of the Northwest Passage, probably blame Stan Rogers anyway.)
