People were regularly glueing the locks on the Starbucks that appeared on Commercial Drive in Vancouver. The Drive had been an immigrant and punk stronghold for a long time, and was already being gentrified, but the Starbucks clearly marked the beginning of the end, which people tried to resist. Last time I went, the gentrification had been quite thorough, and I get to see this week if there's any soul left to the place.
