“never live for the sake of another man, nor ask another man to live for mine”

Yet ask a buncha guys to fork out six figures for their movie. :P

I also appreciate this quote:

"despite the free market repeatedly determining it would rather not have any Atlas Shrugged movies, producers Harmon Kaslow and John Aglialoro boldly refused to relinquish their rational self-interests to a world that would dare take their ideas from them"

I do hope they make another one though. Because then we can read your review of it!

They don't need money. They should be able to make the movie out of their bootstraps!

That was my favourite line, too.

Will it have yet another totally different cast again?

[identity profile] springheel-jack.livejournal.com 2013-09-25 03:02 am (UTC)(link)
oh, almost certainly. Even with their kickstarter they're putting an order of magnitude less money into vol. 3 than into vol. 2. They can't possibly pay for another round with the same people. Unless they want to revert to cast v. 1.0.

I hope some of the bigger rewards include the chance to audition for key roles.

Well, it's $5,000 to be an extra, so I guess it would be something like $15,000 for a chance to audition, and what up and coming objectivist starlet wouldn't make an investment like that.

If only.

It would still be 100% more convincing.

I like how they try to fig-leaf by claiming that their begging for cash is all just a publicity stunt. First, suuuuure it is. Second, yes, dudes, the problem with your first two movies was definitely lack of publicity.

from comments: I liked "Shruggers gonna mooch".

“The Atlas Shrugged Kickstarter campaign is of course a voluntary value-for-value exchange. You are not obligated to contribute,”

well THAT'S a relief.

I like the comment "I am raging with ennui."

I think they're mutually exclusive?

[identity profile] jvmatucha.livejournal.com 2013-09-25 05:36 pm (UTC)(link)
I believe I have raged with ennui before. It can be quite consuming!

Start a petition to get Rob Ford and his conservatives to get it up here, then he'd be good for at least *something*

would you actually GO to the premiere? Or just wear the shirt around on the day in question?

On the one hand I kinda want this movie to be made so [livejournal.com profile] sabotabby can snark about it.

On the other hand I hope everyone involved dies in a fire.

Well I don't want any harm to come to Armin Shimmerman either.

[identity profile] eyelid.livejournal.com 2013-09-25 04:33 pm (UTC)(link)
you don't have to choose! They could make the movie and THEN die in a fire.

You're right, I need to embrace the power of AND.

But the whole /point/ of Randianism is that charity is bad /even if/ it's voluntary! They are Randroid-illiterate!

[identity profile] eyelid.livejournal.com 2013-09-25 04:34 pm (UTC)(link)
EXACTLY. What is the difference, pray, between feeling "morally obligated" to give to poor people and feeling "morally obligated" to give to rich people?

[identity profile] frilled-shark.livejournal.com 2013-09-25 04:33 pm (UTC)(link)
I feel kind of bad for them, like when you see someone making an ass of themselves and want to crawl under your chair in vicarious embarrassment. At the same time, I sort of admire their brazenness. They must know everyone who hears about this is laughing at them, but on they go with their terrible movie. If they had any shame, they would have stopped after the first one flopped.

I am just so happy that I now have the word "shruggalo" in my vocabulary.
