what

The federal government won't be making any announcements on the future of Vancouver's safe-injection site or AIDS funding this week because the issue is "too politicized."

Oh, I'm sorry. The fact that AIDS is decimating an entire fucking continent is too political for Harper. KS lesions and pneumonia are too political. That Canada reneged on its promise to send generic drugs to the Third World is too political. 40.3 million people worldwide are living with AIDS but let's not do anything about that because it's too political.

My suggestion is that we make it a bit more political by turfing this douchebag of a chimprime minister from office. He deserves worse, but I wouldn't wish AIDS on anyone.

Twat asshole. Are there plans for action against this decision?

Even Roy Cohn.

In other words, Harper's saying 'Drug use and STDs are not a concern to doughy faux-Albertan Bay Street types like me'.

A politician refusing to engage in politics! That's his JOB, primero politico of the country...

The polis have stepped up the surveillance on all activists in Scotland as well (even though we're constantly aware of the bloody CCTV with every step}, especially since they don't want to waste all that extra neat stuff they got to purchase for the G8.
I thought Angels in America was one of the best programmes I've ever watched.I don't see things until they come out on DVD years after, and people had been talking about it so I rented it, not knowing what it was and _wow_. Al Pacino's portrayal of Cohn was so on.

The political is liberal!

It's funny how an issue that affects millions of people and whose fate is dependent on the decisions of politicians gets politicized. Almost like it has to do with the society we live in or something. Happens every time.

You could move to Cuba. They have no employment problem.

[identity profile] dobrovolets.livejournal.com 2006-08-18 05:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Even official Cuban government sources admit that there's unemployment in Cuba. While lower than in most countries, it is real. How the myth that there's full employment in Cuba became so widespread, I don't know.

[identity profile] frandroid.livejournal.com 2006-08-18 05:35 pm (UTC)(link)
In Cuba, jobs look for you!

My suspicion is that the unemployed are lazy welfare bums taking advantage of the common weal.

More seriously, I just assumed that most of everyone was put to work one way or another:

"We got no money for this project."
"Let's just get people to dig up this canal with shovels while we figure out what to do with the water."

Back to seriousness, Cuba's biomedical industry and organic farming techniques are impressive.

there was a </seriously> tag in there that got gobbled up.

I guess you also need to be told that Bill Graham is Teh Bi and could be criticizing Harper a lot more vehemently if he were less spineless.

One of the things I despise the most about the merciless character of the right wing is the fact that they are so empowered by these self-righteous 'Christian' fundamentalists who show no mercy to anyone who is not a copy of them.

They want Africa to die so they can take the resources more easily.

Reality is too politicized. We prefer rhetoric in this government.

If only we could figure out what that meant.

[identity profile] zingerella.livejournal.com 2006-08-19 11:01 pm (UTC)(link)
We can't talk about Global Warming. It's too politicized.
