Please expand on this Craigslist Conundrum. I'm afraid that I only use Craigslist for checking out apartments, furniture, and the odd kitten that I can't have.

The Rants and Raves section started in response to people posting joke ads in other areas, especially Missed Connections. It's allegedly for posting unsigned complaints or praise only with no discussion, this is not enforced. It's one of the biggest, dumbest open threads around, one giant digression, a free trolling zone where even the rational people run wild.

There is one aspect which seems odd even for a forum named "Rants and Raves" - no matter where the conversation goes it eventually returns to fat chicks and/or American vs. foreign women. Homophobia and generalized misogyny often crop up, but the default setting appears to be female weight and the myraid ways women from other countries treat men better than US gals. No matter how spectacular or lengthy any given thought gets played out, eventually fat girls and foreign chicks appear. Not only in new, unrelated posts, but within ongoing discussions.

It strikes me as odd - if you asked me what would be the most common topics in an anonymous forum designed for impulsive venting, fat and foreign would not be my first thought - thus I call it a conundrum.

I saw a lot of "all women are the same and they only want to date assholes" posts. I think most were written by assholes, so I'm not sure why, if their theories were accurate, they are having so many problems getting laid.
