I also get the distinct feeling some of the evo psych defenders who are all "it's a real science" have confused it with evolutionary biology which is a very different discipline, as in, involving actual science and theories which can be proved, rather than guessing how our ancestors thought and how it helped them breed.

At least one of them posited a dichotomy between evolutionary psychology and creationism. Which strikes me as odd, because biologically, we share 95-98% of our DNA with higher apes. In that tiny percentage of difference lie immense intellectual, physical, and behavioural differences. That details such as preference for blondes could be important enough to have a genetic basis seems deeply counterintuitive.
