Off with their heads!

So the scum-sucking welfare cases are coming to Canada (skipping Toronto, of course, where they run the risk of being righteously pelted by eggs). The taxpayer will be footing the bill. Our illustrious Prime Minister has yet to announce how many of our hard-earned dollars will be spent pampering these leeches, but in 2009, it cost $2.9 million for them to holiday on our soil.

I humbly propose a few better uses for this $2.9 million.

• A year's childcare for approximately 200 Ontario families
• Housing for a year for around 200 low-income people in Toronto
• A year's income for 280 people on disability benefits
• Increase the TTC budget so that maybe the buses don't fall apart
• Enough guillotines to rid us of this irritating drain on the public purse

(I can't seem to find a guillotine for sale, so I can't be specific about the last part. I suppose, in a pinch, a dirty basement and a Bolshevik firing squad would also do nicely.)

I know I shouldn't, but I have some measure of affection for HM. William is just a git.

This is sort of like a guillotine. Do you think they'd fit?

I was extraordinarily confused. Then I clicked the link.

...Well... parts of them...

[identity profile] queerasmoi.livejournal.com 2011-02-17 01:53 am (UTC)(link)
Maybe we should give them a tour of Vancouver's Downtown Eastside, and make them stand in the line-up for their welfare cheque. It's only fair.

Oh, oh, and we can put them up in a bedbug-infested SRO. They are also welcome to use our safe-injection site, although they may be more interested in the classier drugs one can obtain in Yaletown.

its about the memories, not the money! This is their first marriage!

You're right it is hard to find a guillotine for sale...but you could just build your own.

I think it would make an excellent belated valentine's day gift.

there's never any marriage (and lavish multi million dollar state funded honeymoon) as special as the first one.

it makes me wonder WHY YOU HATE LOVE SO MUCH?!??

No guarantee you won't get crabs from a prince.

They could spend it on updating all government websites to meet accessibility standards!

*sigh*

My sympathies!

Bloody royal wedding.

When I was five I had an intense recurrent nightmare throughout the Charles and Di wedding period about a bomb going off on our council estate. Living in central London means anything like this means extra terrorist alerts. Bah.

At least people here are getting cross that taxpayers' money is expected to pay for the wedding. The recession has made people a bit more republican.

I don't hate them as much as you do - I like traditions and all, and find them amusingly ugly and stupid, but at the same time I can see it is pretty dangerous having such a huge hierarchical bollock as the many, many less intelligent of the population cling to the belief that rich people are their "betters" somehow, rather than just equally stupid but more fortunate financially. I didn't realize how serious it was until a conversation with my boyfriend last year in which he got very upset at my lack of respect for the royal family, saying we are supposed to respect them because they are our rulers!!! I exploded. Of course, he has a mental illness that makes it hard for him to think properly, and left school at 16 and comes from a village where people didn't read books apart from Jeffrey Archer, but still!!!!!!!

(Now he is on new medication he says he realizes the royal family are silly, and is cross that they don't pay for their own weddings, so I think it was just the madness talking.)

They always argue that the royal family are good for tourism, but who the hell visits a country because they have a queen? That's just weird. Anyway, it was in the news the other day that actually the tourist industry people lied and actually tourists avoid coming here if there is a royal do. Hah.
