Snakes On a Plane...

...is every bit as awesome as you thought it would be.

And by awesome, I mean awful. Ed Wood awful. There needs to be a drinking game. I need to see it a bazillion times. There was one scene I could have done without (I bet you can guess which one it is, and it's in the trailer so it isn't even a spoiler) but otherwise it was completely cracktastic. The best part is that Samuel L. Jackson is actually acting. It's like watching one human actor playing against a bunch of muppets.

Plus, snake-o-vision.

I should clarify, just so that I don't raise anyone's expectations (not that people's expectations aren't already raised):

Ed Wood in that it's so bad it's good and you have to wonder if they were laughing the entire time they made it. Not stylistically.

Drinking game potential: It doesn't have the repetition that makes The Princess Bride drinking game so much fun, but the experience is heightened by drinking throughout the film, and there are enough good lines that we could figure something. out.

Or you could just drink an entire mickey of Crown Royal like sphinctourist did while we were watching it.

Jackson plays it seriously. I don't think he took it seriously.

Kitten! No, I did really want to see it. I wasn't participating in the whole internet extravaganza because I don't like giving people free advertising, even if said people are either extremely brilliant or extremely stoned (I haven't figured out which yet), but yeah...the entire thought of the movie has been making me giggle.

understood about the ed wood comparison - there's nothing like him. i'm awaiting the inevitable mst3k treatment my friends and i give it.

a drinking game can be made for anything if given enough thought. though i don't doubt that SoaP would make a killer of a game.

considering that he refused to be in it if the name *wasn't* SoaP, i think he had some attachment to it, but consider myself corrected nonetheless.

Don't get me started with dream_king (or his wife, pester, the uber-frum convert who is still very Christian). I used to argue with both of them all the time but it was getting to be too much of a headache to deal with his incomprehensible ramblings. At one point he'd claimed to be in the IDF, and when I looked at that time period in his journal, he'd been in the Vancouver goth scene complaining about how he was overweight and couldn't find a date.

See...we went to a drive-in about an hour away last night to see that one (not my choice, not my kind of humor) and all agreed it was a big dud. It had 3-4 really funny lines. And incidentally while we were waiting we watched the end of Reptiles on an Airship on another screen, and it didn't seem aaaaaall that amusing. I don't know, there really is crap I like, but neither of these is it.

The sad thing is that someone else probably made that icon (I'm not sure that he could spell "president"), which means that more than one person thinks that's acceptable.

Then again, with Harper in power, it's more or less a factual statement.

We were the rowdy crowd in the (curiously not-so-packed) theatre.

We even started making up calls! The people in front of us loved it.

When the timer counted down, we led the theatre in chanting "THREE! TWO! ONE! SNAKES!!!!"
