Happy anniversary
I neglected to mention that three years ago yesterday, a very special guy came into my life.

Marinetti in 2003, just before his fourth birthday. I can't believe he was ever this skinny!

Marinetti today, doing what he likes to do best.
When I adopted him, he had been in the Humane Society for several months. No one wanted him—he was older (although not very old at all), somewhat aggressive (despite being the most mellow cat in the universe now), and had a few health concerns (none of them all that serious). Today, I can't imagine my life without him.
Here are the cats at the Toronto Humane Society currently awaiting new homes. If you can, adopt one.

I want to be a crazy cat lady but my already in resident cats (and my husband to be) won't let me. They know I'd go out of control and adopt them ALL. :(

My sister's Maine coon cat, Kamar, is the skinniest I can ever remember - and more active than he has been in years. We used to refer to him as the fuzzy basketball, or the fuzzy Moon (his namesake - my sister's other old cat was named Shams al-Nahar - Sun of the Day). She's been keeping him on a diet (how she manages this with 2 other cats and 2 dogs is beyond me).

He's fuzzy!
He looks properly spoiled and well-loved. Good job. The Egyptian goddess Bastet would have loved you.

Video Fun
Also, in case you haven't already seen it, Black Books is a Brit-com about a bookstore run by heavy drinkers. And the opening music is rather Waitsian. Whole episodes are on line here.
I'll be posting cat photos shortly ...
