For some reason, I knew this would happen. I predict that within a year there will be a reality TV series based on her experience.

Randroid dating! I tried to sign up to get a look at the ads, but alas, my application was probably a mite unconvincing. But I'm so curious.

Randroid dating!

I refer you to this gift that keeps on giving.

You know, when I see her photos, I think of that bit from The Simpsons in which Mr. Burns dances about in Speedos saying, "You can't be too rich or too thin."

I wonder if Randroid sex is as violent as is portrayed in the Randroid Gospels.

omg I'm sending it to my roommate. He's such a libertarianite.

[identity profile] queerasmoi.livejournal.com 2008-06-01 09:50 pm (UTC)(link)
He's loud and obnoxious at times, but he's also sweet in strange ways. And although he's vegan, his libertarian side mans I can cook whatever the heck i want in the kitchen.

[identity profile] mcpreacher.livejournal.com 2008-06-01 10:20 pm (UTC)(link)
it is in his rational self-interest to prefer different foods than yourself in order to have greater access to limited resources, although a third person would add a healthy competitive spirit to the kitchen and strengthen your foodonomics

hey look i can pretend to be a shithead

LOL, awesome.

I met one a couple of months ago through a friend. Seriously disappointing- I was expecting a human in demon form, but he turned out to be this cute chubby little nerd-guy with a speech impediment.

The trouble with a dating site for them is that they all secretly want to get off with left-wing women. Um. No, seriously, I know this for a fact. The number of emails I used to get on OkCupid from libertarian guys pretending to lecture me about the 'evils' of socialism, whilst clearly wanting teh hawt commieSeXX0rs proves this beyond doubt.

Interestingly enough, since the time that I posted that comment, my roommate got laid for the first time in a VERY long time. With a bi girl who's a member of Food Not Bombs ;)

They just suspect we have orgies. Tell them we don't invite Randians.

Have you seen this? I'm not sure if the first photo is actually directly related to the story, but it's still a happy match.

The picture on the dating site reminds me of "The Spirit of Detroit".

Look here for a better picture.

It's stolen from the cover of an old edition of The Fountainhead. Somehow I suspect it's use is in violation of copyright. So much for respect of creative property rights.

Even more off topic: have you seen the t-shirts on this site? The Che, panda, Trek, Pluto, zombie and never forget shirts reminded me of you.

[identity profile] rohmie.livejournal.com 2008-06-01 10:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Pandas are graphically ingenious and thus almost an argument for Intelligent Design.

As you can see from my last post, I've been on a t-shirt watching kick this weekend.

I like that the panda shirt is a parody of the World Wildlife Fund logo.

In a perfect clusterfuck of obscenity, chances are it will be matchmaking reality show with were the victim will chose from her pick randoid suitors. I vote for the title of "Who will be Mrs. John Galt"

The Fountainhead is Zizek's favourite american movie.

That was my reaction too :). You may also like Zizek! (2005) -- a documentary, sort of.

It's pretty nuts. When he's playing with the kid's toys and going Lacan on them? fuh-reak-eee

I liked the beginning, about his dislike for humans.
There is this stupid idea that love and hate, agreement and disagreement, are opposites, but in truth our best benefactors and our sharpest critics coincide.

[identity profile] shelestel.livejournal.com 2008-06-02 04:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Say, while we're at it,-- why wouldn't they let you teach history? Are they strict about maintaining a sharp divide between tech and the rest?
Plus, please accept my apologies for the "she's a good teacher" bullshit at the awards; I don't think I should have gone there.

[identity profile] shelestel.livejournal.com 2008-06-02 07:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, I wasn't saying anything bad, only good. But I decided to apologize just in case the radical feminist in you heard a definition of women by men :).

I hope she begins all of her guest introductions with, "Unless you've been hiding in a cave for 8 years, you've heard of..."
