These are apparently the safest and most comfortable collars. Marinetti's is really dangly, though, and barely visible due to a combination of scrawny and fluffy. Should I trim the end?
I'd suggest trimming it, yes, so that there's less possibility of it getting caught on things. Also, you have ID tags for them on their collars now, yes?
I got mine from http://www.thetagstudio.com/shop/engraved-pet-id-tags I think - fairly lightweight, fairly inexpensive, decent variety of colours, shapes and sizes. I think they even let you choose the fonts, albeit from a set list. (Someday I will find a pet tag site that lets you design the tags in Illustrator or something and upload the art, but today is not that day.)
LOL! No, I didn't see that option... I kept it pretty simple. No graphics; calligraphy font for their names and sans-serif font for the contact info; small circles for the cats and a heart for Kiska; each in a colour that seemed suit each of them (pink for Kiska, blue for Claribell, green for Rosalind).
However, looking at the site again, I do like a few of the graphics they have. I didn't really go all the way through them when I was ordering - the first few images looked tacky and silly so I ignored that option. But Claribell totally deserves a skull and crossbones on hers. Maybe next time.
I haven't got tags for the kittens yet, but I figure that a collar is a sign to other humans that "I have a human and a home." Also there are going to be new council mandated tags, but they aren't available yet.
Yeah, one thing that his rescuer said was that she initially thought that Marinetti was feral, since he looks like such a sketchy character. No one would ever mistake Cocoa for a stray, but at least the collars are an indication that the cats belong to someone.
They're breakaway collars. They also have elastic in them, so they can stretch considerably.
Marinetti's chipped; I'm not sure about Cocoa. I *cough* *shame* *cough* haven't taken her to the vet's because her previous owner took her in November, and I've been pretty wrapped up in Marinetti's myriad health problems. But I plan to take her soon and get her chipped if she's not already (she probably is; I think they either got her from a breeder or a pet store).
Glad they got back home. I've been making sure that the windows are only open 2 inches at most since I came into the kitchen and saw that Gambit was on the ledge (and thankfully, he ran back inside because there would be no way that I could grab him - he's the formerly abused cat that still runs away from me)
The window is not getting open until there's a screen on it. I didn't initially have it wide enough to get through (the feral kitten in the backyard tried and couldn't manage it) but between my two cats, they managed to push it open.
OMG!! I just read all your entries, I haven't logged on in over a week. Silly Marinetti, wanting to go off on an adventure! Must have been such an ordeal for you. So glad there are kind people in the world like that woman who found him.
Adventurekitten knows no fear! When daring escapades beckon, he will always answer the call (hoping there will be running water, treats & scritches at the end).
I did, and tucked it into the appropriate fastener, but it still looks like he's eating a string bean. He manages to make wearing a collar look vaguely disreputable.

You got the ones with the spider webs, didn't you?

(A bit of an exercise in futility, as cats have no shame, but still).
