More insufferable music snobbery

sabotabbyI am addicted to the IMS posts on Pandagon. I'm heading back to the non-silent world in less than two hours, so you get a post about music. Go figure.
(For the linkphobic: Billboard reports that 25% of the year's 100 top songs are about partying. I'm surprised it's that small a percentage, actually. Amanda rather hilariously analyzes her own Most Played list by genre and subject matter.)
My Most Played list is heavily biased towards a few playlists that I made and listen to constantly, so it does not reflect the full awesomeness and superiority of my musical taste. I am pleased to say, though, that none of these songs are about partying.
1. This is an industrial/electronic song about depression and self-sabotage.
2. This is a ballad about remaining true to yourself while betraying your professed ideals.
3. This is a piano ballad about an intense, all-consuming, and potentially destructive relationship.
4. This is an industrial/electronic song about mental illness.
5. This is an indie rock song about how the singer’s generation is hopelessly alienated. I believe the title may be a subtle reference to Pac-Man.
6. From what I can gather, this industrial/electronic song is about existentialism.
7. This is a piano ballad about a relationship that’s going really well, actually.
8. This is an indie rock song about how your shitty life choices are going to result in a poetically just death.
9. This is a very bleak indie rock song about a gay dude who can’t commit to a relationship with the singer.
10. This is a post-punk song about how the singer’s best friend is dead and his girlfriend left him and he’s an alcoholic and everything sucks and you suck if you disagree.
