They had to cast one black guy to make it look modern, and it sure as hell wasn't going to be one of the three guys Dagny sleeps with, because Tea Partiers do have an issue with miscegenation. But it couldn't be a villain because if the only black guy in the movie was the villain, that would look really really racist. So they settled for making Eddie black because Eddie is good and loyal but not good enough to get Capitalist Raptured at the end.
