Wow your impression of the shiva episode (one of the ones I was waiting for you to get to) is almost the opposite of mine. I thought it was TERRIBLE. JMS (as you will see also later on) really likes Jews. He thinks he knows a lot about Jews, but he's just slightly off, so it comes off really artificial. I can't even put my finger on it entirely. One aspect is that he transports the problems of Jews from that time to the future completely unchanged. Actually he makes Russia out like it's like the 80s all over again. But there's more later too. Wait until you encounter a (coded as) Jewish merchant later on. It might actually piss you off for inaccuracy about Jewish socialist history. No, this is not much of a spoiler as things go.
One of the annoying things in this episode is that the Rabbi asks if triel (a Centauri food) is kosher and then when the person he asks says they don't know he replies something like "Oh well, it doesn't matter." Yes, he isn't frum, and yes there are some sects of Judaism where not even the Rabbi has to keep kosher (we don't know if he's in one of those, however). But, if he was going to ask as if it mattered, why does he then shrug it off? Why bother? Irritating.

On a better note, the guy who played Weyoun was in Reanimator (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0089885/) and some other HP Lovecraft films :-D.
