You should just poke around the main menu, and then ask them questions like "Is it easy to read on?", "Do you like the keyboard?", and about backlit screens or something. That way they'll think you're interested and it gives them a chance to boast about their newest technological purchase while taking the focus off what you're doing with their gadget (ahaha /islike5).
