That racefail was particularly sad for me because Bear's such a damn good writer, even though she has big blind spots (see also "everyone is bisexual but heterosexual relationships are just more meaningful" in some of her books). I enjoy a good dust-up when I don't generally like the work of the person committing fail. I can totally see the fail, but it makes me sad.
