I'm currently reading Peter Bagge's cartoon bio of Margaret Sanger and one thing that strikes me is despite (or perhaps because of) all the power dynamics of thar era someone could make a tiny bit of headway with the argument "what the fuck, this doesn't have to be this way and ultimately it costs you nothing, so it should change". And it distresses me greatly that people are essentially worse than fucking Comstock because they are rolling things back to his era and they don't have the excuse of being immersed in the time of god-partriarch being the default.
