free books!
Jun. 18th, 2007 12:50 pmAs I was walking to the streetcar stop, I saw that a neighbour of mine had put out several boxes of books, free for the taking. I resolve to get to know this neighbour, as the books were pretty good. I scored four titles (all I could carry): Otherland by Tad Williams, Growing Up Weightless by John M. Ford, Black Workers in White Unions by William Gould, and The Washington Connection and Third World Fascism by Noam Chomsky and Edward S. Herman.
The inscription on the last book is what gets me, though, and I really want to know the story behind it:
Aug. 3, 1984
MARK:
While this book isn't particularly well-written, it contains interesting information, and I hope you will at least look through it before doing military-related work for our good neighbours to the South.
Anyways, happy birthday and peace be with you.
