Reading Wednesday
Feb. 10th, 2021 05:48 pmI still do this even while furious and terrified, apparently.
Just finished: Policing Black Lives: State Violence in Canada from Slavery to the Present by Robyn Maynard. Pretty much what it says on the tin—this is a detailed and impassioned examination of systemic anti-Black racism in Canada. It's a few years old now, but alas still relevant. Highly recommended.
Currently reading: Plain Bad Heroines by Emily M. Danforth. You'll love this one. It's the story of a girls' boarding school in 1902 that is cursed with a series of horrible deaths, and a film shoot at the site of the school in the present day. It's kind of like an Edward Gorey book in novel form but everyone is a lesbian. Completely amazing so far.
