podcast friday
Sep. 29th, 2023 06:24 amAll the Cool Zone Media shows are on hiatus this week, leaving me still in suspense about the Surrealism one and which of my historical boyfriends/girlfriends/enbyfriends Magpie is going to cover next so...let's talk about closer-to-home things.
I've not posted about federal Canadian politics much (or even provincial politics), both because I'm exhausted and focused on daily survival, but also because there is so. Much. Happening. And I can't keep up. The big things were first Trudeau accused the Indian government of assassinating a Canadian citizen on Canadian soil for his involvement in Sikh activism, and just as that seemed to be coming to a critical juncture, the Speaker of the House invited a 98-year-old Nazi to make an appearance when Zelenskyy was visiting. Which is bad, yeah? Extremely bad.
Meanwhile the pro-trans-genociders are out in full force. And I am not happy about how the media covered it. Neither, thankfully, is Jesse Brown.
I don't always agree with Jesse's politics or media analysis but like. He and I are in lockstep about both of these issues. He and Andrea Houston break down the rhetoric around "parental rights" and how the media framed it and tried to both-sides a situation where a group of extremists is attacking children and schools and trying to do a genocide. I'm sharing it not just because I agree with it but because I think they both do an amazing job of analyzing how you can talk about and report on these issues responsibly.
Short Cuts: Springtime For Hitler In Ottawa.
