Date: 2006-06-01 01:55 pm (UTC)Things that are always good to see: Kensington Market/Chinatown, the Art Gallery of Ontario (although it's under construction, so there may not be anything good on now), Queen W. (past where tour guides will tell you to go is a decent strip of small art galleries and a Tibetan area), and Corktown/Distillery (which sucks for anything cultural, but the architecture is gorgeous).
There are usually a bunch of free concerts down at Harbourfront, but I have no idea what's on.
Oh, and pick up a NOW Magazine when you get in (it's also online). It's their Most Unwieldy Issue Ever, a.k.a. the summer guide.

Date: 2006-06-01 10:16 pm (UTC)I just learned that on Tuesday (International Day of Slayer!), there's an event called 6/6/6 Readings for the End of the World featuring, among other authors, OMGSQUEE Nalo Hopkinson talking about apocalypse theory. So I am almost certainly going to that. It's at the Cameron House, which is a bar I'd recommend anyway.
Good places to drink: I mostly drink at McVeigh's, which has Irish folk music on weekends. When I'm broke, I go to the Green Room, which is sort of a cheesy student faux-boho place. There used to be a bunch of good bars in Parkdale, but they're all getting closed down because yuppies are moving in.
