Preparation for the impending zombie apocalypse

I had my first kickboxing class tonight. I guess by referring to it as my first, I imply that there will be others, and that's probably accurate. It was rather fun, and it happens to be cheap and close by my workplace. Also, I got to throw around the 200-pound instructor by his elbow, which I think is a valuable life skill.

It's the summer, I'm out of shape, and I've let my gym membership lapse (oh, but try telling the gym that; they think that they can just keep charging things to my credit card!) so I've got to do something athletic and moderately violent.

After all, you never know when a zombie epidemic might hit, and you need to be ready!

On the strategy end of things, I have discovered a new time-waster: Urban Dead. It is also useful, as it takes place nearby and it has a built-in device that forces you to stop playing after a few minutes and go hide somewhere, so you won't actually spend the entire workday on it. Anyway, I just started, but it looks like a good time. I'm currently holed up for the weekend in the Noyce Plaza School, if you want to join in and fight e-zombies with me.

Funny that you mention zombies as your motivation for fitness. I started lifting weights 6 months ago for all the normal reasons one lifts weights but also b/c I secretly believe I'm preparing myself for the combination violent class revolt/nuclear winter/general apocolpyse of the future.

Well, my motivation is also peer pressure from ARA people, who seem to think that I am likely to get into street fights with Nazis. Heh.
