I actually think that the Rapture/Tribulation/Apocalypse mythos is great movie material. The concept behind Left Behind would have been been brilliant (even if it's bad theology) in the hands of the right writers. Alas, these guys are hacks who understand less about Christianity than I do.
Throughout the movie, people keep insisting that their loved ones are not coming back because they're in Heaven. It seems odd that Irene Steele gets to be the exception, especially when it would make no real difference to the plot if she didn't show up.
