The really sad thing about Left Behind is that the premise isn't actually awful. You could do an awesome novel about the Rapture and its aftereffects, and you could probably do an awesome novel about the Antichrist (I'm sure the latter has been done). But in order to do that, you'd have to probably not be a tight-assed religious fanatic.
