I'm here via marnanel's journal. This is very interesting to me because I have three (white) kids in school in a part of England where so-called "self-segregation" by black and Asian families in the education system is starting to be a matter of political concern. I am getting a whiff of blame-the-victim from that discourse that I don't like. My eldest son attends a school where the majority of kids are Asian, and I get a sense that most politicians don't take the trouble to understand why those kids' parents feel that other schools don't serve their interests.
