Oh man this takes me right back to my Randroid phase in high school. I remember The Fountainhead being dry...I also remember Atlas Shrugged being better (technically anyway, though I was super into the philosophy at the time). With, of course the notable exception of the 100-page speech that is basically the Objectivist Manifesto dropped whole into a character's mouth. If I recall there was a little mini-version of that in Fountainhead (only 40 fucking pages).
Of course if you're going to be a self-centered douchebag whose philosophical purpose in life is to be a self-centred douchebag, late adolesence is a good time for it. People are less likely to even notice a change, much less hold it against you.
