I was having some sort of get-together with
brownfist when, to my surprise, Ann Coulter and her bodyguard/booking agent showed up. What was even more surprising was that
brownfist knew and liked Ann Coulter. We ordered a round and talked for a bit. During the course of our conversation it became clear that she was quite left-leaning; more liberal than either of us, but given the scope of American mainstream politics, not bad at all. It seemed that her entire public persona was just a front, designed to expose and humiliate the American Right by confronting them with the logical conclusions of their argument.
With a measure of shock, I realized that she was absolutely brilliant.
I made up my mind to go see her talk that night, but it was at midnight, and I ended up at some strange subway station and missed it utterly. I phoned
brownfist, who'd gone home for the evening, and told him to give her my regrets the next time they spoke.
"It's okay," he said, "She thought you were really cool, too."
Today, I'm running around like a chicken with its head cut off. All the drama of the past few days has left me with about four hours today to pack and get ready to leave. Go organization skillz!
