I had no idea how atrocious the lyrics to this song were. I am only familiar with it through the version at the beginning of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, and I actually thought it was intentionally funny and campy. I had no idea it was meant to be earnest.

Generation Irony, y'all.

On that note, I probably shouldn't watch Priscilla, Queen of the Desert again because I won't like it nearly as much as I did when I was 15.
