I see we're posting love songs. I'm not good with the squishy feelings, but we'll see.

10. Celia, Phil Ochs (not on YouTube but you can download it from that link.
If hate must be my prison lock, love must be the key
Oh when will Celia come to me?

9.Eric's Song, Vienna Teng

And of course I forgive
You've seen how I live
I've got darkness and fears to appease

8.The Briar and the Rose, Tom Waits

And when I'm buried in my grave
Tell me so I will know
Your tears will fall to make love grow
The briar and the rose

7. Lovers in a Dangerous Time, Bruce Cockburn

Nothing worth having comes without some kind of fight
Gotta kick at the darkness til it bleeds daylight

6. Folding Chair, Regina Spektor

Maybe one day you will understand
I don’t want nothing from you but to sweetly hold your hand

5. The Triumph of Our Tired Eyes, A Silver Mt. Zion

And lover, sweet lover
Please don't discipline your hands.
Just kiss me in the morning,
In your dirtiest pants.

4. Prithee, Edward Ka-Spel

Show me our tomorrows
'Cause I can't dream alone

3. Love You More Than Life, Neutral Milk Hotel

Let the world collapse and swallow
All the love she'll hold tomorrow
And I will shield and I will follow no one

2. Home, Depeche Mode

And I thank you for bringing me here
For showing me home
For singing these tears
Finally, I've found that I belong here

1. The Reasons, The Weakerthans
I know you might roll your eyes at this
But I'm so glad that you exist

(This last one is my shameless favourite love song because I'm that much of a dork. I think the video is completely wrong for it.)

I *LOVE* that Bruce Cockburn song. I like it almost as much as the Barenaked Ladies cover. They made that song break my heart.

I bought my Ian UB40 love songs and they're surprisingly (to me, as love songs, i.e. most songs, are the worst as far as my music-dislike goes) decent, mainly because they're reggae-style, and I greatly approve of reggae. It means they're not depressing, because they have nice reggae optimist beat. Rather than all the usual woe. Hooray, music I can bear listening to!
