I tentatively am enjoying Torchwood: Miracle Day so far. Conceptually, at least. It's a cool story and there were plenty of big explosions, which you guys know I love.

Though...

If I were Gwen, I wouldn't be all smily and happy. I'd punch Jack in the face. Especially given that the bruise would now stick around for awhile.

If I were Rhys, and Gwen failed to punch Jack in the face, I'd probably do it for her.

The blown-up dude and the thing with the pliers was, I must say, awesome, and makes up for a multitude of sins.

Surprise! Surprise!

I too am tentatively enjoying the new Torchwood. It's goofy and gross, but when Davies is on his game, he can do it very well and, so far he seems on his game.

I fear the resolution will be some kind of roll-your-eyeballs-into-the-top-of-your-head hand-wavery, but what the hell, if the getting there is a good enough ride.

Me too. And I lolled when Jack said to cut off his head, because that's exactly what I was thinking - what would happen if they cut the guy's head off?

Of course, I am also thinking, what if you fed someone through a meat grinder? What if you chopped them up into lots of little bits and ate them? What if you dissolved them in acid, or if they were at ground zero of a nuclear bomb?

But hey. I expect so very, very little of Torchwood that I'm enjoying it.

Torchwood is one of those shows I've kept watching in the hope that it might one day live up to its potential, in spite of the fact that it hardly ever does. In fact I think it's the only show I've kept on watching in spite of thinking the first two seasons were mostly crap. The few really good bits seem to make it worth it. Plus, John Barrowman is so pretty.

BTW, I've just started season 6 of the X-Files, and already see what you mean about loving all 5 seasons of the show, heh.

Just finished watching it, and while I wasn't wowed, I wasn't especially disappointed either, and am looking forward to more. Like Children of Earth, it seems to have mostly abandoned the elements of dark humour that used to be a fairly integral part of Torchwood (well, except for a few tiny flickers here and there), but other than that, it felt just Torchwoody enough to make my inner fangirl bounce up and down squeeing "Torchwood Torchwood Torchwood Torchwood!" just loud enough to almost drown out the part of me that was a little more rational/critical.

Do you know a good place to get it online? I saw the first episode because I was in Chicago with folks that had the Starz channel, but have not seen yesterday's yet.

I can't do torrents. Couldn't before on Comcast and can't now on Verizon Fios. Has to be streaming. :(
