If you mean "horchata," you should say "agua horchata." Otherwise, you may get some raised eyebrows, or worse, a different sort of delicious milky substance than the one you wanted.

This makes me both sad and amused. Amused, because I am totally going to say "horchata" as often as I say "bukkake," which is more often than one might think. Sad, because it is my favourite non-alcoholic beverage, and even in Toronto where it's hard to find, I do manage to drink it. And I hate to think that I've been asking the poor servers at El Trompo for a glass of semen and they've been too polite to say anything about it.

I found a bar that serves agua de tamarindo here. No such embarrassment. Lo me gusta mucho.

(Though looking it up on Wikipedia, it looks like horchata is properly the drink name. Other uses are derived from the drink.)

Well, "bukakke" refers to noodles as well. But that's not the use that immediately comes to mind.

That may be only in Mexico. Or even only in that part. Or even only because people were taking the piss out of you. The drink is called horchata. Yes it is an agua fresco but still. It is however Salvadorian originally AFAIK, so see initial statement :-D.

I don't think she was taking the piss out of me, so maybe it's just a Mexico thing. However, I tend to be in Mexico and not El Salvador, so it is an important thing to keep in mind. :)
