Emerging from the telly hole

Okay, so Breaking Bad just shot up to Second Favourite Thing On TV* (eclipsing even Fringe and Mad Men, though in fairness this may be because the latter hasn't aired in such a long time) with the fourth season.

You're now allowed to discuss spoilers on my LJ. In other news, I may soon have to produce a long ramble about why I like it so much. For now you just need to understand that it's one of those shows that makes me want to copy what I see on TV. I don't mean drug-dealing and murder; I mean I look at those shots and that editing and wrack my brain all day figuring out how to replicate it. TVTropes says they're using handheld cameras to film, which is making me confused.

Right, now I will need some new TV to watch, I guess. It's probably going to have to be the rest of The Wire.

ETA: Mostly for snarkitysnarks, who is a bad influence in so many respects, Breaking Bad: Friendship is Magic.



* First being Treme, though I think BrBa's cinematography is actually better and the acting about equal.

Perhaps:

1. Walt will somehow 'become' Gus? Or they will hint at his transformation into Gus. I can only sorta see it because Gus himself was this unassuming, quiet dude who transformed into a killer/drug Lord. So like, why not Walt. He's at least demonstrated the appetite for it for 2 seasons now.

2. The cancer returns.

1. Yeah, I think they're going there. (I hope they don't have to go there by killing Jesse as a parallel!) I suspect if they do break it into two half-seasons, Walt is Gus by the mid-series finale and the last half is his downfall.

I KNOW RIGHT? I got überworried when they said that Max was a street kid and Gus had paid for his education and shaped him into a brilliant chemist, and then BOOM. Of course, Walt managed to become as evil as Gus if not more so with slightly less justification already, so parallels are unnecessary.

I think the two options that leave Jesse standing at the end are a) he replaces Walt after Walt replaces Gus (dark) and b) Walt dies in such a way that makes it possible for Jesse to escape (happy!).
