OMG YOU GUYS OMG

YOU GUYS

Despite the first movie being smacked down by the Invisible Hand of the Free Market, Atlas Shrugged II is out.

And it sounds horrendous. And Robert Picardo is in it, because apparently former Star Trek actors mostly get work in movies like this. I am so excited. I hope he and Armin Shimmerman are skeezy together in a scene where they plot against the heroic capitalists who singlehandedly turn the wheels of industry with their bulging arms.

THE GUBMINT IS COMING AFTER OUR COPYRIGHTS!

Are your ideals rigid or are you just happy to see me?

Okay, kids, you know the score. I need this movie in my life. First person to find me a genuine working torrent gets the review dedicated to them.

I swear, the producers must have some sort of sense of humor to cast Armin "Quark" "Andrew Ryan" Shimmerman as one of the villains...

I like to think that Armin Shimmerman is trolling the producer as he take his money.

Is he in this one as well?

In my experience talking to gamers of a Libertarian/Objectivist bent, they were ecstatic that Ayn Rand's ideas were represented in BioShock, but seemingly unaware that they were not represented in a positive light. The fact that Rapture was a fucking horrible dystopia seemed completely beyond them.

How about the fact that it pretty much literally choked to death on its own politics? No?

It makes sense. Quark was a rugged capitalist and individualist.

I am very excited. It's a good motivation to get skype set up so we can have an online drinking game.

I am prepared to drink at ridiculous hours in the name of mocking Atlas Shrugged!

As long as it's on a Sunday or something.

I like the bit with the Joe Blow factory workers being told the government is going to freeze their wages to assure us that Ayn Rand is fighting on behalf of the Little Guy.

Yes, I remember from years ago when I tried to read Atlas Shrugged that the only character I found remotely human was Dagny's assistant Eddie. He actually had doubts and wasn't perfectly sure of his self-sufficient wonderfulness at all times! According to summaries I read online, his fate is uncertain.

I feel like they keep extending these movies. I thought there were only supposed to be two? Maybe they're still unsure of what to do with Galt's marathon speech and so keep stretching everything before it as procrastination.

"If you saw Atlas, knees buckling, arms trembling, but still trying to hold up the world with the last of his strength, what would you tell him to do?"

I would tell him, "Dude, wtf do you think you're doing? You're supposed to be standing on top of the tallest mountain in the world, holding up the sky. Quit doing headstands and get back to work!"

--Actually, given that the gap between the top of the tallest mountain and the sky is apparently the height of a human-sized guy (because Heracles wasn't a giant and he took the burden for a moment one time, so they were close enough in height as to be able to swap it back and forth pretty easily), I have never understood why poor Atlas had to stand there holding it up. He could have just put it down so it was resting on the mountain instead, yeah? It would have dropped, what, a metre and a half, tops? What difference would it have made?

I have always assumed that neither he nor Heracles was very bright. XD

Given their tired government-is-the-Mafia line, it seems odd that the hero talks like a Good fella.
