I gather some of you are celebrating some sort of religious festivity this weekend, but possibly an even larger percentage of you are, like me, gearing up for the season 3 Game of Thrones premiere on Sunday. Which I'm doing by mainlining the last two seasons and dorkishly making playlists. So just in case you were in danger of running out of music, have a mixtape celebrating what is to come.

Disclaimer the first: Totally cheating in that a few of the songs are from the show/book.
Disclaimer the second: It's under the cut because the title itself is spoilery and if you Google at least two of the song titles, you will also get spoilers.

I find you fantastic. Also, SQUEE*

*yes, GoT and I have broken up in literary form, this in no way changes my relationship to the show.

I'm pretty sure I was growing annoyed by Feast of Crows but I know Dance with Dragons pushed me over the edge. I'm not great w/ epic fantasy to begin with, but the each section has a different narrator - and then those narrators start proliferating - thing drove me crazy. I was jumping back and forward and even between books and wholly losing track of everything.

Agreed. No idea how he's going to pull it all together in the end. Increasingly wonder if he's not going to and that will somehow sort of be the point.

You know I'm going to end up reading the next one the instant it comes out in spite of everything, right? ;)

GRRM's random and unexpected cruelty is what makes him irresistible. (Man do I wish I could get someone to say that about me. I'd set aside money in the will for that to be in my eulogy!)

I kinda did that with season 2, which I watched a month ago, but that was mostly because I moved and had internet issues when it was actually airing.

Ooh my! That looks an awesome selection. And reminds me that I need to buy some Mumford and Sons. Which is an example of how piracy doesn't reduce music sales.

I was very pleased to discover that GoT3 premieres in Sweden on Monday, one day after the US, ON A CHANNEL I HAVE!!! OMGSquee. For once I won't have to download.

Best Playlist is Best.

This is going to be a good weekend, even if by the time all my shows have aired in their timezone and been ::cough::made available::cough:: it will be a day later in my timezone.

This is so perfect! I had no idea that covers of The Bear and the Maiden Fair were a thing. I wonder if there are any of the Last of the Giants, too.

I am finally reading the novel A Game of Thrones, but have spoiled myself terribly with the wiki. I am not certain how much reader-stamina I am going to have as far as finishing the books goes, but I'm going to take a stab at it, as well as join in all the prayers that George R.R. Martin finishes the last book before succumbing to age.
