Did you know about Buffy the Anarcho-Syndicalist Vampire Slayer?
No? Okay. You're welcome.

No? Okay. You're welcome.

I'm a genius, no doubt

Date: 2013-06-01 09:31 pm (UTC)Anne was the first episode I saw, randomly, sitting alone in my room in Hackney and turning on the telly to see if there was anything vaguely worth watching on.
My life changed that day.

Although that's one of the times when I really wish that I hadn't read online announcements since they stated that there was going to be an Angel show which means that Angel isn't really dead - just useless for most of season 3.

Date: 2013-06-02 09:48 pm (UTC)It took the writers almost the entire first season to figure out what to do with Angel that didn't involve one of those two things (they even brought back a fake Angelus back in one of the dumbest ways possible n the first season). But when they got to the second season, it seemed like the key to unlocking Angel was to have him singing Mandy for Karaoke.
Also helped that he let Darla and Drusilla kill a room full of lawyers - not because he was evil, just because he was pissed.

Date: 2013-06-04 12:49 am (UTC)Mind you, it ends up that the studio forced a lot of changes to the original concept that Whedon was able to undo with the series, so it's kind of ironic that I disliked the series for not being true to the movie, when in fact the movie wasn't true to the following series (based on the idea he had originally for the movie that then got changed).
In the end, though, ya wanna know what? I stuck with ATS long enough to get hooked because I loved the opening theme so much. I just ADORE cellos. Damn, I really should learn to play one.
That was a really cool show, though, even if it did take my Westley/Fred ship and throw it under a bus. And then stomp on it. And then set it on fire.
Curse you, Whedon. XD

My interest flagged a bit after they killed off Doyle (and since Wesley in BtVS was not a particularly likeable character, especially compared to how awesome he is in ATS), but the theme song kept me watching. And then there was demon karaoke and vampire-slaying street gangs and a talking hamburger and for a good long time I actually liked it more than Buffy.
