Answer for question 4218.
Jan. 30th, 2015 10:38 pm[Error: unknown template qotd]It was "The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms" by N.K. Jemisin. Someone recommended it to me (I think
funnel101 but don't quote me on that). I asked people on FB for a list of books I should read, preferably in e-form, preferably not written by straight white dudes. (Not that I have anything against straight white dudes, but the majority of books I read last year were by them and that's not the coolest.)
Anyway! Yes. Totally recommended, going to check out the sequels as well. It has cool worldbuilding and political maneuvering and a rather lovely, disjointed lyrical style.

Date: 2015-01-31 11:13 am (UTC)I read The Killing Moon recently, which is in her next series. It was also very good, but it didn't hit me in all the places that The Inheritance Trilogy did, and I haven't got a copy of The Shadowed Sun yet, but it's on my short list of books I need.
