On Rambo: First Blood II
apperception: The United States made war against its own soldiers.
sabotabby: We spat on them! We somehow got into the military bases where they were landing, we, the unwashed masses that represent the American government, and we *spat* on *them*.
apperception: We stood in line at the airport to spit on them. First they went through customs. Then there was baggage claim. And then—spitting.
sabotabby: Granted, there were some filthy hippies working in customs that spat too. There was enough saliva for everyone.
apperception: Some people naturally spit when they talk, you know.
sabotabby: It's true.
apperception: Maybe that's what happened.
sabotabby: The whole thing might have just been a misunderstanding.
apperception: Just some person with bad teeth. In customs. Never forget.

Oh, Canada
Jul. 15th, 2008 07:49 pmIn case you haven't seen it, here is a brief video showing Omar Khadr being interrogated by Canadian officials . The worst thing is because they were Canadian and from the government, he thought they were there to help him. They weren't.
Trigger warning. It's really horrible to watch. He was barely 16 when this video was taken.
This is the face of the War of Terror: a frightened child crying out for his mother.
Here's something small you can do: Go to the Toronto Star homepage, and where it asks if Canada should be doing more to bring Omar home, click "yes."
