[Error: unknown template qotd]I am still in school, in a sense. And yes, I still hate picture day, although it's far more enjoyable to be the one who runs around and reminds the teachers that *they* need to get their pictures taken too.

As a photography teacher, I also enjoy explaining to the kids the reasons why school pictures always suck. It helps their self-esteem *and* photography skills.

The worst picture of me, hands-down, is my eighth grade graduation picture. I was fat (not that there's anything wrong with that, but try being a fat eighth-grader), had big feathered hair in an attempt to look like Robert Smith but that actually looked like a volunteer at a bingo hall, unfortunate glasses, unfortunate braces, and an awkward-as-fuck pose. You'll just have to imagine it.

Dunno if I ever had a *good* picture of me. My last staff picture was surprisingly not-awful.

The only good school picture (or ID picture) I've had was from film school. Because the staff took the photos. And they knew what they were doing. It was a relief. Made me feel (rightly) confident that the next few years weren't going to be a waste of time.

The one time I was put in charge of taking the pictures, I was forced to use a point-and-shoot and begged the students to not take the results as an indication of my photography skills.

I developed an allergy to being photographed as a teen, which is a shame, because despite my body hatred, I had some great outfits, and cool hair, and was probably, objectively speaking from the point of view of someone who is not a teenager, kinda cute.

I went through a weird-looking period and then an okay-looking period, but few photos remain. Bless the era before digital cameras!
