Tonight, the province decides if it will elect a failed businessman without a fully costed platform who has pledged to, I dunno, save a shitload of money somehow, currently facing a $16.5 million lawsuit from his own sister-in-law, backed by a gaggle of candidates, 25% of whom are facing lawsuits, probes, and police investigations, including defrauding immigrants, threatening voters, stealing data, and of course election fraud. 

As a high school teacher who works with at-risk youth, many of whom would never graduate without intensive intervention, I am one of the many "efficiencies" that he will find if he gets elected. So is my school. So, most importantly, are my kids.

And that's without mentioning the many poor, sick, disabled, indigenous, racialized, and marginalized in this province. 

The last time Tories were in power in Ontario, a hell of a lot of people died.

Or we could elect the NDP, who, while far from perfect, actually have a decent platform that will protect the most vulnerable and attempt to undo some of the damage caused by austerity measures over the past two decades.

I know a lot of my friends are anarchists and don't believe in voting. Many others of my acquaintance believe all politicians are the same, and corrupt, and there's not a lot of difference. I can tell you, having lived in Ontario for nearly 40 years, there is in fact a dramatic difference between the regular, run-of-the-mill failures of representative democracy, and allowing a rampaging mob to trample over what remains of a tattered social safety net, fuelled by an ideology intended to damage the social fabric as much as possible whilst siphoning public funds into the pockets of their cronies.

Fellow Ontario citizens: Please vote today. Keep Ford and his shitstains out of power.

Everyone else: Please keep us in your thoughts. It's gonna be a long night.

Also, I just cannot comprehend how so many people can vote for people like Trump and Ford and the rest of these utter shits. A combination of nastiness towards anyone who isn't like them, and utter indifference towards consequences.

It's a minority, but often a sufficiently large and well-placed minority to determine the outcome, of people who are fearful, irrational, and lacking in empathy. And they are fucking up the entire world.

Look, North America is never getting another normal politician again. The right has figured it out, the left hasn't. We need to shift the playing field massively. I'm not sure how.
