Arty Peru pictures, pt. 3

Looking for any way to not feel anxious about returning to work and Drug Fraud's egregious assault on free and democratic elections, so here are some pictures of Ollantaytambo, Moray, and Maras.

One of the things that impressed me about Peru is that everything is built on such a ridiculously ambitious scale. If you're a Game of Thrones fan, you might scoff at the ridiculously impractical castles or the Wall, but apparently the Incan Empire was of the same mindset and just went, "fuck it, go big or go home" with much of their architecture.

What are they growing in those terraces?

I was wondering the same thing! Looks almost like a sea salt thing, but my second guess is rice.

It is in fact salt! It comes up through the hot springs and the terraces filter it.

Damn! I was also leaning towards rice, except there was no sign of anything actually growing in the moment you took the shots.

The "girl power" shot really brings home the scale of those terraces

That's one of my favourites.

The other thing that brought home the scale was what a pain-in-the-ass it was to climb. :)
