Last Peru post: Machu Picchu

These photos are the culmination of—well, not a lifelong dream, exactly, but close to, one that probably got sparked when we had to study an indigenous civilization in elementary school and I chose the Incas because they had a quasi collectivist economy and universal healthcare. But Anya and I have been actively planning to go to Machu Picchu for nearly a decade and a number of things got in the way, but in the end, we did it. And it was worth it.

Friends. Do not put off the things that you want to do in your life.

These are stunning photos. Like I get that the subject matter is highly photographic, but these belong in a tourist magazine or something.

I am chuffed that my pictures of it came out better than the ones on, say, the Wikipedia page. Of course, I know nothing about actually selling photos, though it sometimes happens by accident.

So were you like a red-diaper baby, or just very aware from an early age?

Spectacular photographs of a spectacular site. I think St Kilda may be my equivalent, if I ever get there - abigor and I had a boat trip there booked a few years back but the weather did not co-operate.

I was like...an orange diaper baby? Reddish-orange, probably? Went to peace group meetings and anti-FTA marches and there was a lot of political talk around my house. And went door-to-door for Bob Rae, which I now deeply regret, hahah.

St Kilda looks gorgeous. Maybe I should go to Scotland while I'm in the UK next year (fingers crossed); I've wanted to go forever.
