I've got my fingers crossed for you getting a slightly less shit government by tomorrow.

Like most of the world, I am affected by your choices, but unable to influence them. Therefore, I'm going to enact the privilege of being a foreigner to cope with the impotence of being a foreigner, and tune out by drinking in front of TV that isn't the news. Good luck y'all!

Fortunately, we now have a democrat majority in the House. That's significant.

I got a letter from Need to Impeach that states: "This is what we set out to do. With control of the House, Democrats can release Trump’s tax returns, subpoena his family members, and, yes, launch impeachment proceedings. Now, we need to keep the pressure on."

All I can think is, I wish we could get voters as worked up about every election as they were for this one; I've been voting in most elections since I was 18 and the only times I've missed one was when I was truly incapacitated.

I hope that the results go against the incumbent buffoon.

I drank in front of the tv that was the news. I think in the light of day my response is: if a few high profile races hadn't gone the wrong way, most non-horrible people today would feel like "well, that went pretty well." It is dispiriting that Kemp almost certainly won, and De Santis in Florida, and for me it is very personally stinging that Beto lost in a close race and Ted Cruz, among the vilest of all, is around for another six years in my home state. But a senate majority was never realistic and with a house majority we are no longer in free fall. I'd rather accept "not great" as better than "there are no brakes on this thing" than just be utterly distraught, if only for today. We're a shitty country in a bunch of ways. This we knew.

I'm kind of feeling the same, except that I spent last night hiding in bed with a fantasy novel and at least succeeded in not repeating my epic 2016 panic attack.

I'm holding out for Abrams in GA.
