I actually had a really good day today for unrelated reasons, but whenever I'm having a bad one, I will remember the image of Roger Stone, who has a Nixon tattoo on his back, being perp-walked out of his house after a raid by furloughed FBI agents, who eagerly volunteered to do it for free*, in his PJs.

It is 2019 and this sentence makes sense.

* Even evil has standards.

F**king finally! After what feels like literally years of Stone going on Infowars and saying "I'M PROBABLY NEXT!" he was in fact next, and it should have happened years ago. None of these Nixon diehards should have been allowed to participate in politics ever ever again. Like it should have been an instant disqualifier. He and Manafort should have been forced to get real jobs from the outset.

As for the end of the shutdown: I feel like I can cheer for the LaGuardia air traffic controllers who basiclly ended the shutdown by not coming into work yesterday, and also cheer that Nancy Pelosi is a boss. One of those things doesn't rule out the other thing. I mean the people on Twitter who are like "NO STOP CONGRATULATING NANCY THIS WAS THE LABORERS' WIN" are basically right, but Trump can't see them or even comprehend their plight or even their existance, and never will. He sees a woman who told him "no" that he has to heed, because she's right in front of him and a symbol of his failure that he has to acknowledge.

I credit the air traffic controllers for sheer badassery but I don't discount Pelosi's importance as a symbol. There's the economic/political analysis and then there's the cultural analysis, and we don't do the former any favours by ignoring the latter.

I just don't understand why anyone having to do with Nixon isn't dead or in jail.
