Bunkers, BoJo, and goth Morris dancers

I met up with notasupervillain at, of course, Platform 9 3/4 (and was pleased to discover that it’s an Ingress portal, naturally). We heard a rumour that the worst people in the country were electing the worst possible person to lead the country, so a fun thing to do would be to head down to Westminster and see what was going on.

Well, we expected some big protests, or something, but there was really only one guy in a Boris mask and a clown suit, some pro-Remain people with EU flags, and some pro-Leave people with very large signs.



And then we heard it.



So while I am a Goth Who Protests, one doesn’t really expect to see a large amount of goths protesting. And yet. Here they were. There was a largish crowd dancing, surrounded by a bunch of pagan-y people.

Right. No one expects Goth Morris dancers but this is a thing that exists in the world and I have proof.



It turned out that they have nothing to do with Brexit or BoJo (though one of them told us how great Brexit was going to be) and the protest was over the May Day bank day. I have better photos but you get the idea.

We saw this fine fellow:



Then we went to Churchill’s bunker, which is amazing.

It was totally unexpected. But it wasn’t just goths; it was a general Morris dancer protest, but we happened to walk in when the goth Morris dancers were at it.

They are really cool. I have a soft spot for Morris dancers as long as they don’t wake me up by doing it outside my bedroom window (there’s a story for another time) but these are better Morris dancers than the traditional ones.

Here in Victoria we have a better looking monument to the Brigaders.
I was at the unveiling in 2000.

There are actually five monuments in Canada, two in BC.
